where is Minecraft windows 10 edition beta save world file?

  • #1 Jul 31, 2015

I have no Idea where to put this so I will discuss this here. So I just updated my computer to windows 10 and one can get a free minecraft windows 10 edition if you bought PC minecraft. Basically minecraft windows 10 edition IS Minecraft Pocket edition just FYI. Now the question is.... Where is the minecraft windows 10 edition save file because I would like to add maps if possible and even share my world with my friend. I have no idea where this folder would be. I've already typed this question in on the web and found no result, mostly because it was released a couple of days ago. Can some computer expert who has windows 10 (PC) and has minecraft windows 10 edition help find this. Thanks.

That's not exactly true. More like you have it backwards. There are differences between the two- for instance, Win10 has controller support and keyboard/mouse support built-in, PE does not. They are kept "in sync" for compatibility reasons. It's Win10 that is being updated, PE is just along for the ride. Both have come a long way and have done some major "growing up" in the last year or so. The ole "it's just PE" mindset doesn't apply any longer.

Now the question is.... Where is the minecraft windows 10 edition save file because I would like to add maps if possible and even share my world with my friend. I have no idea where this folder would be.

Actually, you don't need to know that anymore. It's been made very simple for you with the addition of the Export button (which saves the world file, or "map", to a location of your choice, such as a flash drive) and the Import button (which imports a world file/map into the game- for instance your backup or another world file). So "making a backup" or "sharing maps with friends" is a cinch.

People are used to (having to) mess with and play around with the java edition's files. Big Fun. But Win10 is a totally different animal under the hood. You don't mess with Mother Nature or Win10 files... not if you want the game to keep functioning.
