Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropic Communications, the Director of Stewardship Communications and Events:
- Leads development and execution of annual stewardship plan; the director is also responsible for timely delivery of creative collateral and successful implementation of strategies that convey gratitude while also cultivating knowledge, engagement and passion among Berry donors.
- Serves as the chief content developer responsible for crafting compelling messages that show gratitude and inspire future giving; also serves as project manager responsible for overseeing development/production of stewardship communications (print and electronic) in collaboration with other campus departments (photography, graphic design, etc.).
- Provides leadership across departmental lines to ensure successful execution of donor stewardship events, including significant role in communications development and logistical planning/implementation.
- Builds and maintains relationships with partners in Advancement and across campus, including the Office of the President and academic/program leadership, to ensure effective flow of information and meaningful collaboration.
Key Competencies and Knowledge:
- Skilled writer with demonstrated ability to develop compelling, strategically targeted messages.
- Well organized, with the capability of managing complex processes and large amounts of information in a clear and concise way.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; SalesForce experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and relationship-building with campus partners and donor base.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 5 to 8 years in donor relations/communications or related field
- Significant writing and editing experience

- The work environment of this position is a traditional office setting, with some on-site work during donor stewardship events.
- The physical demands of this position are primarily office based, combined with some amount of walking (when visiting campus partners); some set-up/lifting of up to 25lbs may be required when working on-site at events.
